Morning Yoga: Creating a Repeatable, Partnership-Led Income Stream

Morning Yoga at the Natural History Museum was developed to address an opportunity: how to use early morning hours to create an engagement-led event that felt genuinely connected to the museum’s narrative, while generating a sustainable new income stream.

The challenge

The museum’s galleries were largely unused in the early morning, representing untapped potential.

The challenge was to:

Create an event that aligned meaningfully with the museum’s themes

Avoid generic wellness programming that could happen anywhere

Build something repeatable, rather than a one-off novelty

    The approach

I identified a strong conceptual connection between yoga, mindfulness, and the museum’s focus on the natural world. From there, I led the development of a partnership-led approach that prioritised experience quality over scale.

    Under my leadership, the team:

Identified and secured a partner whose values and practices aligned with the museum

Designed an experience rooted in the architecture of the Hintze Hall

Built a delivery model that was controlled and low risk

I held responsibility for shaping the overall offer, pricing strategy, and partnership framework, while enabling the team to develop and deliver the operational details.

    The solution

We partnered with London-based yoga studio East of Eden to co-create early-morning yoga sessions in the Hintze Hall.

Rather than delivering a standard class, the sessions were:

Designed to reference the museum’s architecture and natural themes

Enhanced with a gong bath to deepen the sensory experience

Carefully paced to create an immersive atmosphere

The experience felt rooted in place, offering something genuinely distinctive within the wellness space - and clearly connected to the museum’s identity.

Tickets were priced at £35, reflecting the premium nature of the setting while remaining accessible.

    The impact

Monthly sell-outs, with 200 tickets per event

Achieved a profit margin of around 55%

Established as a long-term, repeatable product

Became a staple of the museum’s commercial events programme
