Coaching for Individuals
About coaching
When you're working solo
Working in a commercial role within a cultural organisation often means holding ideas that don’t move as quickly as you would like.
You can see what could work. You have a sense of what needs to happen. You are motivated to make progress - whether that’s developing new income streams, improving existing activity, or approaching things in a different way.
But getting those ideas over the line is not always straightforward.
Even when the work is strong, progress can feel out of your control, over time, that can become frustrating.
Not because you lack capability, but because it is hard to translate effort into momentum.

Expand Your Thinking
What’s often happening beneath the surface
Many of the individuals I work with are doing good work, but finding it difficult to move things forward.
They may be:
struggling to get buy-in for ideas
experiencing long delays in decision-making or sign-off
relying on their manager to advocate for them
feeling that progress depends on factors outside their control
uncertain how to navigate different stakeholders
There is often another layer to this.
- A sense of frustration that things take longer than they should.
- A concern that pushing too hard could create risk.
- A feeling that commercial thinking is not always fully understood or valued.
These are not always easy things to talk about internally.
The Benefits
What coaching makes possible
Coaching provides a space to step back and look more clearly at how you are working within your organisation.
The focus is not just on the idea itself, but on how that idea is being introduced, communicated, and supported.
Together we might explore:
- how you are approaching stakeholders and decision-making
- where your ideas are gaining traction - and where they are not
- how you communicate intent, value, and risk
- how organisational dynamics are affecting progress
- how you can build support more effectively
A key part of the work is developing greater awareness - of both your own responses and those of others - and using that insight to act more intentionally.

Working with you
Coaching is one-to-one and shaped around your role, your organisation, and the challenges you are navigating.
It provides a space to:
- think through specific situations
- prepare for important conversations or decisions
- reflect on what is working - and what is not
- test different approaches
The focus is practical and grounded in your day-to-day work.
My approach
My approach is shaped by many years working inside complex cultural organisations, leading commercial activity across multiple stakeholders and sites.
I understand what it takes to move ideas forward in environments where:
- decision-making is shared
- risk is carefully managed
- and commercial activity must align with wider organisational priorities
Coaching is not about giving you a formula.
It is about helping you understand how to work more effectively within your organisation - so your ideas can gain traction and your role can grow.

How coaching works
Sessions take place either online or in person in London.
Coaching is delivered through one-to-one conversations. Sessions provide structured space to reflect on current challenges, explore options, and develop practical next steps.
Sessions can work around your team schedule, weekly or monthly. Most coaching sessions are 1 hour in length.
Some people work with me for a defined period of several sessions focused on a particular challenge. Others choose ongoing coaching as part of their leadership development.
Starting the conversation
If you are in a commercial role and feel that your work is not progressing as it could, a conversation can be a useful first step.
A short discovery call allows us to explore:
- what you are currently experiencing
- what you would like to see change
- whether coaching might be helpful
If it feels like a good fit, we can then shape an approach that works for you.

If you’re considering coaching support, I’d recommend booking a discovery call as early as possible. This allows us to explore fit and availability.
Coaching faqs
What is coaching
Coaching is a space to think clearly about your work, your challenges, and how you want to move forward. It’s designed to help you build confidence, develop your skills, and navigate complexity with more clarity and intention.
Who is this coaching for?
This work is for people in the cultural and charity sectors who are navigating income generation, audience engagement, leadership, or change.
You might be leading a team, managing a project, or stepping into something new and needing space to think things through.
What kinds of challenges can coaching help with?
Coaching can support you to:
- Think more clearly about complex or uncertain situations
- Work through specific challenges or decisions
- Build confidence in your role or leadership
- Strengthen how you collaborate and communicate
- Develop a more considered approach to income and audiences
At its core, it’s about helping you work more effectively within your role.
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Coaching conversations are confidential.
How is this different from mentoring or consultancy?
Consultancy provides answers. Mentoring shares experience.
I won’t tell you what to do. Instead, I’ll help you think more clearly, test your assumptions, and work through challenges in a way that strengthens your own judgement.
The goal is not dependency - it’s capability.
How long should I commit to coaching?
It is totally up to you to determine how long you want and need coaching for.
What happens in a coaching session?
Sessions are structured but led by what you’re navigating.
We might:
- Work through a current challenge
- Explore a decision you’re facing
- Step back and look at patterns or recurring issues
- Test thinking and assumptions
The focus is always on helping you move forward with clarity.
Do you have space for new coaching clients?
I work with a limited number of coaching clients at any one time. As a result, availability can be limited.
